Sell Out

So here I am, finally breaking ground (for myself at least... no, I am not amish) and creating a blog.

My name is Shawn.  I am 35 years old, female, and the mother of 5 children.  I live on the Monterey Peninsula in California.  I'm educated and caught in the hell that is the middle class.  I make too much to be poor but not enough to be rich.  This means I am destined to spend the rest of my life up to my eyeballs in debt trying to pay for the things that rich people can afford and poor people get government programs to provide.

I'm not as bad off as others in my "pay grade" so to speak.  My husband is in the military and it's socialist healthcare system really has it's benefits.  I know of no one in the civilian world making $70,000 a year, living in Monterey, with 100% coverage and practically no co-pay without paying for it through the nose.

This is especially true since my family contains within it 3 girls with autism.  Nope, there is nothing quite like it in the world.

Do I feel like a sell out by creating yet another autism blog?  Most certainly, but writing is cathartic and writing with an audience has it's own pay out.  Besides, I'm tired of Jenny McCarthy and Oprah and the rest of the media's portrayal of people with autism and their family and friends.

That being said, here we go..........
